Overview and Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant coordinates the monthly completion of ledger accounts and financial statements for a high-growth company.   Engages in the research and analysis of business and accounting transactions, oversees and assists with the reconciliation of various commercial bank accounts and lines of credit.  This position requires knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting concepts, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, initiative and creativity. Work includes various related individual and group projects as necessary in a high-growth business.  Experience in the consumer finance, banking or insurance industries is a plus. Job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Responsible for preparation of GAAP financial statements and other financial reports.
  • Reports the organization's finances to management, evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Researches and analyzes accounting transactions.  Analyzes trends, costs and revenues.
  • Reconciles business line of credit account balances, interest costs and variable interest rates. 
  • Responsible for the accurate creation and timely submission of various banking, federal, and regulatory statistical reports.
  • Oversees and assists with commercial finance transactions and reporting.
  • Oversees the financial reporting related to credit insurance and offshore captive.
  • Oversees and assists with the creation and delivery state, county and muni tax reporting.
  • Has thorough knowledge of financial accounting and GAAP concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Coordinates and oversees the responsibilities of other accounting department personnel.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Engages in special projects and other tasks as needed or required.


  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in the field of public or mid-sized company accounting doing full cycle month-end close, intermediate financial reporting and bank reconciliations. 
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Previous finance company accounting, tax accounting and/or insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments within established guidelines
  • Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Ability and desire to work with others in a cooperative, positive and constructive manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel and Access.  SQL is a plus. 
  • Experience with MS Dynamics General Ledger a plus.
