Overview and Responsibilities

The Customer Account Specialist will work out of one of our branch locations assisting customers with delinquent accounts. This position provides a unique opportunity to work with customers in their time of need to help determine the best way to resolve their past due account. Job Responsibilities are as follows:

 

  • Contact delinquent customers for the repayment of past due debt as assigned.
  • Professionally communicate with customers to negotiate commitment agreements or repayment plans that benefit Republic Finance.
  • Responsible for curing past-due accounts while at the same time seeking solicitation opportunities during these customer interactions. 
  • Responsible for loan production through these solicitation efforts.
  • Maintaining current or seeking new relationships with third party attorneys and private process servers.
  • Follow policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations when determining suitable collection solutions, such as the Fair Debt Collections Law and U.S. Bankruptcy Codes and Federal Rules.
  • Executing civil lawsuits, wage garnishments, and repossessions for the purpose of collections through the legal court system to force involuntary repayment of debt.
  • Use of credit bureaus, Accurint, Pacer, trustee sites and other internet sources.
  • Use of ABS Vision, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word to perform daily duties.
  • Apply the legal payment method when applying payments.
  • Responsible for understanding and being proficient in the bankruptcy and insurance claims process to assist the Branch Manager on an as-needed basis.  These duties include:
    • Reviewing bankruptcy recommendations and working with bankruptcy attorneys once determined course of action to object, surrender, redeem or reaffirm the debt for the purpose of collections through the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to ensure fair treatment.
    • Working with attorneys, bankruptcy courts, the Collections and Bankruptcy Center, and third party vendors to secure fair and adequate treatment on eligible claims.
    • File and follow up on all insurance claims.
    • Ensure proof of claims are filed through the Collections and Bankruptcy Center.
    • Post bankruptcy payments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; however, 4 year degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of banking and finance background with prior collections experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks to problem solve creatively and make analytical decisions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to negotiate, instruct and persuade others.
  • Must take initiative and must work well under minimal supervision while staying self-motivated.
  • Interact with internal and external customers in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Must be very familiar with federal, state, and local collection laws, rules, and regulations and company policies and procedures for day to day operations. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of the loan system and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Professional appearance with positive attitude.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must pass all pre-employment tests, drug screening, and criminal background screening.  Must have a satisfactory credit history.
