  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Director of Technology will oversee and be accountable for all company technology, software, IT operations, quality assurance, infrastructure, data as well as the technological resources for each. This position is ideally located in our Baton Rouge, LA office, but could also work out of our Dallas, TX or Charlotte, NC offices with frequent travel to Baton Rouge. For the right candidate, we will also consider allowing someone to reside outside of these areas and commute full-time to our Baton Rouge office. This strategic role will establish the company technology vision, strategies, and plans to scale technology to support 2X-2.5X growth while maintaining flexibility and agility. They will manage a growing IT department and supervise system, operations, infrastructure, development and quality assurance processes while focusing on maintaining and improving all technological issues in the company. They must understand how technology drives our business capabilities and ultimately impacts our customers. Key responsibilities are as follows:

    • Setting company technical vision and leading company’s technological development 
    • Developing strategic plans and setting timelines for evaluation, development, and deployment of all technical, data, web, and mobile capabilities 
    • Own the technologies related to and in support of centralized operations 
    • Collaborate with department heads as advisor of all technologies involved with the company 
    • Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions 
    • Maintain current knowledge of technology landscape and developments 
    • Work closely with numerous vendors, problem-solve against a contract-driven relationship and build a win-win long term relationship 
    • Establishing and then ensuring technology standards and best practices are met 
    • Oversee quality assurance processes, integration, and system tests 
    • Establish a software development process and set objectives for process 
    • Mentor, coach and influence skill-building and learning across IT team 
    • Advise/influence internal technology team on emerging technology trends 
    • Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics 
    • Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity 
    • Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture 
    • Develop and implement disaster and emergency recovery plans 
    • Represent company at conferences and networking events 
    • Ensure company’s technological processes and service comply with all requirements, laws, and regulations 
    • Create strategic goals to increase information accessibility within the company 
    • Ability to effectively communicate with executive team 


    • 10+ years software engineering, integrations and IT experience preferably in a small company environment that has experienced high growth
    • Proven track record of success in technical leadership positions 
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality technical capabilities on time and within budget 
    • Proven track record building a technology team to support the growth goals of the company 
    • Able to manage competing priorities from internal stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to make a build versus buy software decision 
    • Ability to balance the company’s immediate technology needs with its long-term growth 
    • Ability to look at all solution options to a technology need – custom development, cloud based solution, off the shelf software, etc. and decide which is best 
    • Experience with ETL, Data Integrations and SQL Server development 
    • Able to communicate concepts, strategies and recommendations that resonate with the team 
    • Exceptional project management, time management and organization skills 
    • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and senior management 
    • Able to be a “big picture” thinker 
    • Excellent leadership, team building, collaboration, process improvement and management skills 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
    • Able to clearly specify the outcome you desire to the people you trust to deliver it 
    • Deep experience with the Microsoft stack especially, SQL Server and ASP.NET


    Preferred Skills


    • FinTech and Banking Omni Channel experience 
    • Background working for small companies with an aggressive growth strategy 
    • In-depth understanding of the consumer banking industry 
    • Experience implementing solutions to support centralized operations, sales and customer service 
    • Experience with RESTful API, Microservices, Cloud Services, Git 
    • Experience with Data Analytics and Reporting 
    • Experience with DevOps, Software Versioning, Release Management
